Jill's Zine Reviews
|
Jills Rating System:
Nescafe................ | Don't bother. Not even worth spilling your latte on.
|
House Blend......... | Run of the mill. Slightly interesting, neither fantastic nor crappy.
|
Moccacinno........... | Fluffy eye candy. Yummy, clever and achingly hip.
|
Espresso.............. | Beautifully put together. Sweet, to the point, not stuffed with superfluous ads and razor
thin bimbos. Informative and relevant.

Surface
Billing itself as the ‘American Avant Garde', Surface actually manages to live up to its
pretensions. Each issues cover features a varnish overlaying the image, so you know this publication has money.
Glossy, thick, and innovative in its page layout and typography, Surface captures the
edginess of avant garde art
without being obnoxious about it. Featured articles review fashion, interior design, and profiles of various
designers.
Clearly readable, with a fresh take on magazine design.
Jill gives Surface a Espresso.
ISSUE
This magazine is an absolutely beautiful publication. Put together in a booklet format,
Issue features photography, fashion, music and design. A CD is included with most issues and contains music and
sometimes short films.
A simple, elegant layout and great photography make Issue a really enjoyable read.
Jill gives Issue a Espresso.
