Jill's Zine Reviews
|
Jills Rating System:
Nescafe................ | Don't bother. Not even worth spilling your latte on.
|
House Blend......... | Run of the mill. Slightly interesting, neither fantastic nor crappy.
|
Moccacinno........... | Fluffy eye candy. Yummy, clever and achingly hip.
|
Espresso.............. | Beautifully put together. Sweet, to the point, not stuffed with superfluous ads and razor
thin bimbos. Informative and relevant.

Wallpaper Magazine
High end interior design and lifestyle magazine. Very British jet set upperclass
snootsville. Glossy and pretty and minimal and stylish and a million other like things that Jill hates.
Wallpaper goes through great pains to let you, the reader, know that you are not
now nor will you ever be as hip and trend setting as they are. It's beautiful to look at, but not so
entertaining to read, the writers are so ‘in-the-know' that they assume you are too, and are not quite
as informative as they could be.
Each issue is the size of a tome, and usually follows some sort of theme, like
airplane travel, or the Red Cross, or something else that the staff finds entertaining. You certainly get
your money's worth in the weight of the magazine, and it is slick eye candy
Jill gives Wallpaper Magazine a Moccacinno.
Nest Magazine
Interior design magazine. Friendly and funny without being lame. Not as slick as some interior
design magazines, but very interestingly put together, with a high end cut-and-paste feel.
Each issue features a theme in design. One issue explored the use of plastic
coverings in interior design, thus, that issue was enclosed in a zippered clear plastic cover. Writers
take pains to explain history of topics, and the homes of ordinary citizens with extraordinary vision
are taken seriously and given as much space and depth as the home of a designer.
Always startling and informative, Nest is an intriguing read, visual and informative.
Jill gives Nest an Espresso.
