| 12/19/02 It was animation night and we saw Patlabour 2. A sort of sci-fi detective movie involving giant robots and lots of things getting shot up. I liked the story, and i liked the animation style. The people sort of looked real. Of course, you can't beat a big robot with guns and rockets, unless its parked with no pilot and u shot it up with tank piercing bullets. The japanese seem to have reoccuring themes in their anime. Something about holocast and super distruction. I can sort of understand why that would be, with their history of such holocasts. Always there is the idea that something will come out of nowhere to distroy everything, and that the government is lieing to the people about the danger. This of course will not stop me from watching more Anime. I love the colours, the dialog and the strange stories that sometimes do not make much sense to this westerner. |
